§ 10-87. Disability in line of duty.

  • Any member of the volunteer fire department who suffers an injury while responding to a fire call which causes him to be unable to perform the duties of his regular job shall be paid by the city for wages lost during such period of disability for a period not to exceed thirty (30) working days in relation to the same injury; provided, however, that the daily amount payable by the city shall in no event exceed eight (8) times the hourly rate received by a firefighter III of the city. In the event the volunteer receives salary compensation for such period from workmen's compensation, the volunteer shall reimburse the city for any amounts so received, but in no event shall this be a greater amount than actually paid to the volunteer by the city.
