§ 22-25. Division of department of public works.

(a)

Divisions created. There shall be within the department of public works, and there are hereby created in the department of public works, the following divisions:

1.

Street and sewer division;

2.

Water division;

3.

Public property and parks division; and,

4.

Engineering division.

(b)

Duties of street and sewer division. The street and sewer division shall be responsible for the following:

(1)

The construction, repair, maintenance, and cleaning of all city highways, city roads, city streets, city bridges, and city parking facilities and lots, and the removal of snow therefrom;

(2)

The installation and maintenance of traffic signals, other traffic control devices and street signs on all city highways, city roads, city streets, city bridges and city parking facilities;

(3)

The installation, repair, and maintenance of sidewalks under the jurisdiction of the city;

(4)

The construction, repair, maintenance and cleaning of storm drainage systems under the jurisdiction of the city; and

(5)

The construction, repair, maintenance and cleaning of sanitary sewers owned, or operated under the jurisdiction of the city;

(6)

The operation, repair, and maintenance of any sewage treatment plant owned by, or operated under the jurisdiction of the city;

(7)

The construction, maintenance, and operation of any other public sanitation facilities to the extent the same is delegated to the department of public works by the city council; and

(8)

Such other matters assigned by the director of the department of public works.

(c)

Duties of water division. The water division shall be responsible for the following:

(1)

The construction, operation, repair, maintenance of source water pumping facilities, water treatment plans and treated water distribution systems owned by, or operated under the jurisdiction of the city;

(2)

The construction, maintenance, and operation of any other public water facilities to the extent the same is delegated to the department of public works by the city council; and

(3)

Such other matters assigned by the director of the department of public works.

(d)

Duties of public property division. The public property division shall be responsible for the following:

(1)

The operation and maintenance of any public property, park and other recreation facilities owned by, or under the jurisdiction of the city;

(2)

The operation and maintenance of any cemetery owned by, or operated by the city; and

(3)

Such other matters assigned by the director of the department of public works.
