§ 22-87. Notices.

  • Any permittee who performs work or causes work to be performed in the public right-of-way shall provide notice to the city engineer seventy-two (72) hours in advance of the commencement of work activities. The notice shall include the following:

    (a)

    Non-emergency notice. The notice shall include the name, twenty-four-hour telephone number, and address of the permittee including any subcontractors, a description of the work to be performed, the duration of the work and any roadway or roadway lane closures. The city engineer shall forward the notice to other city departments and to the mayor's office for dissemination to local media and emergency service providers.

    (b)

    Emergency notice. For emergency work in the public right-of-way, the permittee, or the applicant if a public right-of-way permit has not been issued, shall immediately notify the city engineer or in the event the emergency is during times when the city engineer's office is closed, the city water treatment plant shall be immediately notified by calling (217) 342-5054 or the city police department by calling (217) 347-0774. The permittee or applicant shall include all applicable information for a non-emergency notice and note the time of notification.

    (c)

    Notice for marking of subsurface facilities. In accordance with state law, any person performing work which includes any excavation in the public right-of-way shall comply with the requirements of the underground service location (JULIE) regarding notification of excavation and marking of subsurface facilities.
