Any person violating any provision of this article shall be subject to punishment
as provided in section 1-14 of this Code for each offense, and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on
each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues; provided, however, that
no person shall be liable for the penalty herein provided until after he has received
from the building official a notice sent to him by mail, or by personal service, of
the fact that a building owned or occupied by him does not have the proper number
to comply with this article.
