§ 2-376. Employment at will.
The great City of Effingham is an "at will" employer, unless an employee is covered by a written contract or agreement providing otherwise. The City and each employee is free to conclude employment relationship at any time, with or without advance notice, with or without cause, and an employee's duration of employment is for no specified time period. The City's employment at will policy applies to all employees, including appointed officials. This policy is subject to the terms of any collective bargaining agreement for employees covered thereby.
