§ 10-9. Charges for fire protection services outside corporate limits.

  • (a)

    All property outside the municipal limits of the City of Effingham, Illinois and outside the boundaries of any fire protection district shall be considered officially unprotected property. The city may respond to a fire emergency for property which is located outside of the boundaries of the municipal limits of the city if able, based upon existence of other emergencies and available equipment and manpower of the city fire department. For purposes of fire insurance, property owners of property outside the municipal limits of the city and outside the boundaries of a fire protection district should consider themselves as being in an unprotected area.

    (b)

    Effective June 15, 2009, the charge for providing fire protection services for property outside of the corporate limits of the city and outside the boundaries of any fire protection district shall be as follows:

    (1)

    The reasonable costs of each vehicle responding as determined by the responding agency, but in no case less than five hundred dollars ($500.00) per hour per vehicle; and,

    (2)

    The cost of all personnel, including any overtime costs to the city or to any responding agency incurred as a result of the fire protection services; and,

    (3)

    The cost of all materials and equipment used, expended, depleted, destroyed or removed from service as a result of the fire protection services.
