§ 21-18. Divisions.

  • The police department shall be divided into the following divisions:

    (1)

    The Division of Field Operations which consist of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Bureau of Patrol.

    a.

    Bureau of Criminal Investigations which shall be supervised by an officer who shall have charge of:

    1.

    The investigation of crimes.

    2.

    The preparation of evidence for the prosecution of criminal cases.

    3.

    Such other duties as may be from time to time assigned to the bureau by the chief of police.

    b.

    Bureau of Patrol which shall be supervised by an officer who shall have charge of:

    1.

    Motor and foot patrol units.

    2.

    Routine investigations not assigned to the bureau of criminal investigations.

    3.

    Control of traffic.

    4.

    Such other duties as may be from time to time assigned to the bureau by the chief of police.

    (2)

    The Division of Support Services which consist of the Bureau of Communications and the Bureau of Records and Archives.

    a.

    Bureau of Communications which shall be supervised by a manager who shall have charge of:

    1.

    Telecommunicators responsible for dispatching calls for service to police, fire, and emergency medical services by answering telephone lines and assisting in supporting public safety.

    2.

    Such other duties as may be from time to time assigned to the bureau by the chief of police.

    b.

    Bureau of Records and Archives which is supervised by an officer who shall have charge of:

    1.

    Civilian employees responsible for management and dissemination of all records in possession of the Effingham Police Department.

    2.

    Such other duties as may be from time to time assigned to the bureau by the chief of police.
