§ 21-20. Deputy chief; duties.

  • There is hereby created the office of the deputy chief of police. He shall be second in command, subordinate to the chief of police. He shall perform such duties as may be assigned to him from time to time by the chief of police. In the absence of the chief of police he shall assume command of the police department and be responsible for fulfilling all of the duties of the chief of police.

Ord. No. 37-2017 , § II, adopted July 5, 2017, repealed the former § 21-20 and enacted a new section as set out herein. The former § 21-20 pertained to assistant chief; duties and derived from Code 1951, § 20-5; and Ord. No. 45-73, § I(20-5), adopted Dec. 18, 1973.
