Article 4. NU NONURBAN DISTRICT  


4-1.  The regulations set forth in this article or set forth elsewhere in this ordinance when referred to in this article are the regulations in the NU Nonurban District.

4-2. Purpose. The purpose of this district is to provide for agricultural activities, for protection of resources, such as forested areas, waterways and areas of unusual scenic value, and, at the same time, to provide for rural residences on large lots for those who choose a rural environment and to prevent the untimely scattering of more dense urban uses which should be confined to areas planned for efficient extension of public services.

A.

Farming and truck gardening, provided that any structure or enclosure for the shelter of livestock or poultry shall be located not less than one hundred (100) feet from any street or lot line, and provided, further, that such use is not prohibited by other ordinances of the city.

B.

Roadside stand for the display or sale of farm products raised on the premises.

C.

Greenhouse or nursery.

D.

Park, playground or forest preserve, school (public or private), golf course or country club (but not miniature golf course or practice driving tee operated for commercial purposes).

E.

One-family dwelling.

F.

Home occupation.

G.

Existing railroad right-of-way, not including switching, storage, freight years or siding.

H.

Signs, provided said signs are in accordance with the requirements set forth in Article 24 of this Appendix B, as well as in compliance with the regulations of the State of Illinois Department of Transportation.

4-4. Height and area regulations. The height and area regulations set forth in Articles 21 and 22 shall be observed.

4-5. Parking regulations. Off-Street parking space shall be provided in accordance with the requirements for specific uses set forth in Article 25.
